Dr. A.R. Kidwai Member, The DPS Society since 1975

Dr. A. R. Kidwai has been Head of the Department of Chemistry and Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Chancellor at Aligarh MuslimUniversity. He has been Chairman and Member of the UPSC,Governor of Bihar and West Bengal, President, Vocational Education Society for Women, Chairman Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Bio-Medical Research, at Delhi University and Chairman at the Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank, Mumbai. He was Member of Rajya Sabha.

Dr. Kidwai has served as a member of innumerable committees at the state andcentral level and has over 40 research papers in Organic & Bio-Chemistry published in national and international journals


Mr. Indrajit Seth - Member, The DPS Society since 1975

A post-graduate in Law from the University of Cambridge, Mr Indrajit Seth is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Accountancy of England and Wales. He was Executive Director of Sterling General Insurance Company Ltd. He was Chief Executive of Bharat Carbon and Ribbon Manufacturing Company Ltd and is now Director at SGS India Ltd and Chairman at Delhi Safe Deposit Company Ltd.


Mr Salman Khurshid - Member, The DPS Society since 1985

Mr Salman Khurshid was Lecturer in Law at Trinity College, OxfordUniversity. He was an officer on Special Duty in the Prime Minister, Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi's Office. Shri Salman Khurshid has exten-sive court practice and has worked upon and appeared in various matters in the Supreme Court of India.

Shri Khurshid has authored 'At Home In India', 'If Winter Comes', 'Beyond Terrorism'. He has contributed articles to the Hindustan Times, Illustrated Weekly, Probe, India Today, Onlooker and Dainik Jagran and published several legal articles in the law journals of the United Kingdom and India. He has been Joint Editor of the Supreme Court Cases Journal.

Shri Salman Khurshid holds senior positions with several educational, socialorganizations and is a very active member and functionary of the Indian NationalCongress. He is involved deeply in education, foreign and minority affairs.


Dr. Usha K. Luthra - Member, The DPS Society since 1985

Dr. Usha K Luthra has a Ph.D in Medicine, FIAC from the International Academy of Cytology, USA, FRCPath from the Royal College of Pathologists, UK and a Diploma in Cytopathology from the International Board of Cytopathology, USA.

Dr Luthra is Member, WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Cancer at Geneva, WHO Committee on Resources and Research at Geneva, the International Board of Cytopathology of the International Academy of Cytologists, USA, Laboratory Certification Committee on the International Academy of Cytology, USA., Terminology Committee of the International Academy of Cytology USA, General Planning, Liasion and Strategies Committee of International Academy of Cytology, USA.

She is Associate Editor, Acta Cytologica, Journal of the International Academy of Cytology, USA. She has also been Vice President of the UICC XVI International Cancer Congress, held in Delhi.

She is President of Indian Society of Oncology, Indian Academy of Cytologists and Secretary Indian Academy of Cytologists.
She is a Fellow, Member of various medical bodies of Cytology, Pathology and Microbiology in UK, USA and India.
Dr. Luthra combines in her a mix of a mature and pleasant teacher, an inves-tigative pathologist of repute and a sound researcher.


Justice B.N. Kirpal - Member, The DPS Society since 1985

A law graduate from the University of Delhi, Justice Kirpal started legal practice in 1961. He was appointed as Central Government Pleader, and as Additional Standing Counsel and thereafter a Senior Standing Counsel for the Department of Income Tax, Delhi.

He was appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court and later as Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court. He was elevated to the Bench of the Supreme Court of India. He served as Chief Justice of India until 2002.

Justice Kirpal has keen interest in education and is closely connected with leading educational institutions in Delhi.


Dr. Montek S. Ahluwalia - Member, The DPS Society since 1986

Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia is the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Government of India. An Economist, Dr. Ahluwalia joined the World Bank in 1968 and then onwardsworked as Deputy Division Chief, Public Finance Division at The World Bank, Washington, D.C. He then became Chief, Income Distribution Division, at Development Research Centre at The World Bank, Washington D.C. He was Economic Advisor, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi. Later he became Additional Secretary and thereafter, Special Secretary to Prime Minister. Also served as Commerce Secretary, Government of India, New Delhi, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance,New Delhi, Finance Secretary, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India.

Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia has been a student of Delhi University and Oxford University.
He has contributed to innumerable professional journals.


Mr. Ashok Chandra - Member, The DPS Society since 1990

A postgraduate in Mathematics from the University of Allahabad, Mr Ashok Chandra joined the Indian Administrative Services in 1959. He served in various capacities in the state of Uttar Pradesh namely, as Secretary in The Department of Industries and as Chairman of the State Jal Nigam.

He has also served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Company Affairs.

Mr Ashok Chandra served the Government of India as Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Information and Broadcasting and the Department of Heavy Industry. He was Adviser to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, India and also advisor to the Government of Afghanistan.

At present he is Trustee of Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society which runs the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi.


Mr Vikram Mohan Thapar - Member, The DPS Society since 1990

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Mr Vikram Thapar is the jointManaging Director of Ballarpur Industries Ltd (BILT), the flagshipCompany of one of the largest corporate conglomerates in the country, The Thapar Group.

Mr Thapar is the Chairman of The Waterbase Ltd, an integrated aqua-cultural venture in India. He is Director of Thapar International Ltd, Thapar Consultants and Service Ltd, Sterling Steels and Wires, Khaitan Chemical and Fertilizers Ltd and many other companies

He is also a Patron Member of the Associated Chambers of Commerce andIndustry of India. He is passionately committed to the cause of being a corporate catalyst of the Blue Revolution in India.


Mr. Pramod Grover - Member, The DPS Society since 1990

A Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in London, Mr Pramod Grower is presently Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

He is also the Founding and Life member of the Institute of Certified Public > Accountants of Kenya.

Mr Grower has served in Richardson Hindustan Ltd, Bombay. He was FinancialController of Africa Synthetic Fibres Ltd and Sunflag Textiles in Nairobi. He was the Representative and local Director of Scandinavian Engineering Corporation in Delhi for over 10 years.

He is non-executive partner and Advisor to Grant Thornton India, a member firm of Grant Thornton International.
He has authored a novel called "The Wedding Gift" published in 2002.


Mr. Narendra Kumar - Member, The DPS Society since 1990

Mr Narendra Kumar is an eminent publisher and has contributed extensively to the publishing industry. He is member of theConsultative Group on Elementary and Secondary Education andLiteracy, Planning Commission, Government of India. He is Vice-President of the All India Tennis Association, Member - Book Development Council, Ministry of HRD, Government of India, Member - Steering Committee of Courses; University of Delhi. He is Life Member of the Author's Guild of India, The Commonwealth Society of India, and The Council of World Affairs.

He has received the highest publishing award for induction into the `Hall of Fame'the Life Time Achievement Award instituted by Federation of Indian Publishers and nominated `Man of the Year' by the American Biographical Institute. He has also contributed at many international conferences across the globe.

Mr Narendra Kumar holds positions of Life Member, Patron, and Director in several educational, social and publishing organizations.


Mr. S. L. Dhawan - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

Mr S.L. Dhawan has a long innings in the field of education. A trueteacher, he has contributed immensely as Principal, DPS Ranipur and DPS Noida.

He was Director Projects and Member Secretary at the DPS Society.

He visited USA as Leader of a Teachers Delegation in 1965. In 1970 he taught for a year in Roosevelt High School, Dayton, USA. He also studied American Culture and Education System in Antioch College (USA).

He was on the faculty of GOROONSTOUN (SCOTLAND) U.K. where he taught Prince Andrew in 1976. .


Ms Shovana Narayan - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

Ms Shovana Narayan, MPhil and Master's Diploma in Public Administration, IIPA, Delhi, is one of the recognized legends in the annals of dance today and a name synonymous with Kathak.

She is a serving officer of the Indian Accounts and Audits Service and presently the Deputy Director General, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. Department of Telecommunication, New Delhi.

She has worked closely with national and internationally known western dancers and musicians. She works very closely with spastic, mentally and physically handicapped children.

Shovana Narayan is the author of various articles on issues relating to the world of dance and arts and women's development.

She is the first dancer to work on philosophical themes on the lives of contemporary sages such as Vivekanand, Ramana Maharshi, Ramkrishna Paramhansa and Mahatma Gandhi.

Shovana Narayan is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, DelhiGovernment's Parishad Samman,Rajiv Gandhi Puraskar, Bihar Gaurav Puraskar; Indira Priyadarshini Samman,Oisca Award (Japan).


Prof. B.P.Khandelwal - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

Prof. B.P. Khandelwal has served in responsible capacities in the field of education in the UP Government. He has been Chairman of Central Board of Secondary Education and President of the Council of School Boards of India.

He has published work on Economics and school based evaluation, over two dozen academic papers and articles on aspects of elementary, secondary and higher education, value education, vocational education, examination and evaluation.

He has been on the International Advisory Editorial Board of Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education and Development, the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong.

He has been honoured the award of `Life Time Achievement In Education' andSaraswati Ratnabhishek by CBSE.
He has served as Director, National Institute of Education Planning andAdministration.

Prof. BT Khandelwal continues to be associated with academic studies, research and management support in school education, including teachers' education with national and international organizations.


Mr. Ravi Vira Gupta - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

After his education at Cambridge University, Mr Ravi Vira Gupta joined the Indian Administrative Services in 1962. During his service Mr Gupta was associated with various aspects relating to cooperatives as well as agriculture. He was Registrar of Cooperatives as well as Managing Director of National Cooperative Development Cooperation. He was the Managing Director of the MP Federation of Dairy Cooperatives. He was veryclosely associated with the economic reforms at the level of Additional Secretary and Secretary in the Government of India in the Ministries of Fertilizer, Food and Finance.

He was also Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and was associated with many committees and particular mention needs to be made as regards to the Reserve Bank Committee on agriculture credit. He was also Chairman of two Government of India committees relating to small savings.

Mr Gupta is actively associated with educational and cultural organizations.


Dr.(Ms) Sharada Nayak - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

Sharada Nayak was nominated for International Scholarship by the United Nations Students Association. Formerly Executive Director of the United States Educational Foundation in India from1981 to 1992, she is currently Director of the Educational Resources Centre and a Consultant to the Ford Foundation in New Delhi.

She was Chairperson of the governing body of Lady Irwin College and Maitreyi College. She has been a consultant for the Connecticut, Minnesota, Washington and Wisconsin state education departments. She was a member of the editorial panel to review the Source Book of Teaching Social Studies, published by UNESCO.

She is a Member of Centre for Women's Development Studies and editorial board of the Indian Journal of Gender Studies

Dr Nayak received the annual award of the Committee for Teaching Asia at the Association of Asian Studies for her outstanding contribution on inter-cultural education. She was also awarded Annual Service Award in 1991 by The Council of International Educational Exchange for her contribution to international education.

In 2002 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters by St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York for her contribution to inter-cultural education.

As Director and Managing Trustee of the Educational Resource Centre Trust, Dr. Nayak is currently engaged in projects for training college faculty and students in diversity programs, gender issues, political awareness and citizenship for democracy.

She is also a member of the Seminar on Inter-cultural Learning and Dialogue, of the International Association of Universities, UNESCO.


Rear Admiral M.M. Chopra - Member, The DPS Society since 1998

Admiral M.M. Chopra worked with the Indian Navy in various F{capacities as Deputy Judge Advocate General, Director of Management ~ services at Naval HQS, Naval Attache - Paris, Assistant Chief of Personnel, Member, Expert Committee, Re-organization of Personnel, Structure of Armed Forces, Chairman, Pay Commission-Navy.

He has been Executive Director and Director on Board of Directors in Bombay Dyeing and Mfg. Co. Ltd. and Director on Board of Steel Strips Ltd, Steel Strips and Wheels Ltd, Indian Acrylics Ltd, Pan-Music Ltd and Bradco Ltd.

He holds responsible positions in social organizations such as Member of the Executive Committee, Indian Council for Child Welfare, Chairman of National Bravery Award Committee and Chairman of Geeta Sanjay Memorial Public School at Ghaziabad. He is also Trustee of the Rural Rehabilitation Committee and the Chinmaya Mission.

He holds the Chair in the Management for Indian Navy.
